Nabu Coffee

The objective of the project was to create a new visual identity for a coffee shop located in the Chester Betty Museum. This involved designing a new logo, creating a digital suite, and developing posters to promote the coffee shop.
Chester Beatty is the pre-eminent Irish museum promoting the appreciation and understanding of world cultures with holdings of manuscripts, rare books, and other treasures from Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

The coffee shop's logo, a peacock feather, symbolizes elegance, knowledge, generosity, creativity, and immortality. These qualities reflect the museum's core values and mission.
The peacock feather represents the sophisticated and inviting atmosphere of the coffee shop, perfectly complementing the museum’s dedication to high culture and art. It signifies knowledge, reflecting the museum's extensive collection of rare books and manuscripts, as well as the commitment to the art of coffee.
Finally, the peacock's association with immortality signifies Chester Beatty's enduring legacy and the goal to create memorable, lasting experiences for customers.
This logo elegantly captures the essence of the coffee shop within the cultural richness of the Museum of Chester Beatty.

The name "Nabo" for the cafe is inspired by an ancient Mesopotamian deity associated with literacy, rational arts, and wisdom. Nabo was credited with the creation of writing, aligning perfectly with the museum’s focus on early human literature and cultural heritage.
This name not only pays homage to ancient wisdom and the origins of literacy but also ties our cafe seamlessly into the cultural and educational context of the Chester Beatty Museum.

The promotional poster captures the essence of this renowned coffee's origins and traditional Middle Eastern preparation methods.
The poster features a Dallah, a traditional Middle Eastern coffee pot, surrounded by coffee cups. One cup emits steam against the backdrop of the sun, subtly forming the shape of a coffee bean. Shapes inspired by Middle Eastern architecture in the background add cultural depth, with a watermark derived from the Chester Beatty Museum’s roof structure.
Together, the name Nabo, the peacock feather logo and the poster elegantly capture the essence of the cafe within the cultural richness of the Museum of Chester Beatty.
