and Calendar
The objective of this project was to create a clear and effective labelling system for The City Bin’s company. The goal was to enhance public awareness and understanding of the recycling process, ensuring proper waste separation into Green (Mixed Recycling), Brown (Organic Waste), and Black (General Waste) bins.
By designing and implementing a visually distinctive system using shapes, colors, icons, and symbols, the project aimed to make recycling more intuitive and accessible for residents and visitors. This system was applied to the bins, a bin collection calendar, and a public awareness poster, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment.
The Green (Mixed Recycling) label, designed with a square shape, features arrows forming a continuous recycling loop to emphasize the process of renewal. The square's four angles symbolize the four essential steps in recycling: collection from households or businesses, sorting at a recycling facility, processing and cleaning each material, and finally, manufacturing new products from the recycled materials. This label aims to make the recycling process more understandable and accessible, encouraging proper waste separation and promoting environmental consciousness.
The Brown (Organic Waste) label utilizes a circular shape to represent the natural cycle of organic waste decomposition. The circle's continuous curve signifies the simple steps involved: collection and direct composting or processing into biofuel. This label aims to encourage the public to separate organic waste from other types of waste, communicating the importance and simplicity of composting, and supporting the goal of reducing landfill waste and enriching the soil.
The Black (General Waste) label features a triangular shape, indicating the multi-step process required for managing non-recyclable and non-compostable materials. The three angles represent the steps of collection, transportation, and disposal, typically through landfilling or incineration. This label informs the public about the complexity of handling general waste and the importance of minimizing it. By clearly depicting the process, it encourages individuals to reduce their general waste output, promoting awareness of waste management challenges and supporting a cleaner, more efficient urban environment.
